The Eleanor Roosevelt Monument is a memorial dedicated to Eleanor Roosevelt, located in New York City's Riverside Park, said to be the first monument dedicated to an American president's wife.
At the monument's dedication in 1996, then–First Lady Hillary Clinton gave the keynote speech. The landscape architects Bruce Kelly and David Varnell designed the monument, and Penelope Jencks sculpted the statue, boulder and foot stone. The surrounding granite pavement contains inscriptions designed by the architect Michael Dwyer, including a summary of Roosevelt's achievements, and a quotation from her 1958 speech at the United Nations advocating universal human rights.
